November 2nd, 2018 - Vancouver, British Columbia - We’re excited and pleased to announce the successful conclusion of Phase One Testing! This involved the production of ten (10) UEI-1 Universal Alarm Circuit / Isolator Test Point prototypes, which were bench-tested for consistent and reliable operation. We’re moving on to Phase Two, where we’re installing a number of units into a controlled environment that involves different manufacturer’s fire alarm systems. We’ll be posting photos shortly! December 31st, 2018 - Vancouver, British Columbia - We successfully defended ourselves against a formal complaint filed by Larrstep Inc. with the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA). Larrstep’s Larry Geoghegan alleged we breached the CFAA’s Code of Ethics in pointing out the significant differences between the ILSTS UEI-1 Universal Alarm Circuit - Isolator Test Point and their product, the Larrstep EEL-1 “Universal” End-of-Line / Isolator Tester in our FAQ.
There simply isn’t going to be another fire alarm testing product out there that’s going to offer the kinds of benefits, features, and advantages you’ll find in the ILSTS UEI-1. Simple to deploy as well as extremely cost-effective, the “Easy-Testing Technology” is going to significantly benefit the fire alarm system service and inspection communities world-wide. The challenge for any manufacturer, when faced with introducing new products into the market, is to ensure accurate information is available so that people can make an informed decision about its implementation and use. From our perspective, we had anticipated a few bumps along the road towards obtaining that all-important UL / ULC Listing and we’re more than pleased to see this one in our rear view mirror!
February 6, 2019 - Vancouver, British Columbia - We’ve filed (and successfully prosecuted) a second DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) Complaint against Larrstep Inc. for plagiarizing our installation instructions. We processed our first one last year and had the offending material removed. We are now seeking an injunction to prevent them from distributing the instructions in their product’s packaging as well. We think it’s a testament to our efforts that another manufacturer would choose to copy aspects of our UEI-1, and while many would view this as the sincerest form of flattery, plagiarism is something we simply will not abide.
March 10, 2019 - Vancouver, British Columbia - We’ve made some editorial changes to our installation instructions for the ILSTS UEI-1, as part of our final preparation for submittal to UL/ULC for Certification. You can review the latest revision posted to the Download Centre!
